What a great market! It's like a department store full of all good eats from frozen to fresh- veg, fish, produce, pantry, etc. Great diverse selections, plus reasonable prices. Also a little area where you can get food from their kitchen. Equipment is another offering. It's like visiting an Asian food museum! I could walk around and shop for hours at a time!

Never spending money at Hot Pot again. Love this market with all they offer, you can make it for half the price and not get food poisoning. Great prices and wonderful people who run it.

Love this place.... I often go and buy veggies and seasonings that I can't get elsewhere as well as treats for my kids... Quality ramen and sweet potato noodles Kimchi and sauces

OK it smells weird. Not unlike other Asian markets but the selection of vegetables fruits Seafood tees cookies or kind of pantry items is really amazing. I really love buying my Asian groceries here.

The only game in town. If you are a home chef unable to find an Asian dish in NOLA you'll find its elements here.

Awesome place to shop. A ton of products as well as produce. Vegetables I've never seen before. Fresh fish market in the back, and many frozen products also. I'd like to try it all! I will definitely be back to get some things and experiment cooking with them. One thing that I thought was super unique was that they had roasted whole Peking ducks available. Can't wait to try one of those!

A seriously great shop for all things Asian food. Was happy to see Thai, Vietnamese and Korean supplies here, too. Good selections and decent prices.

LOVE this shop! I think this is the only East Asian market in the area unless you go to the Westbank. (I'm not counting International Market in this because although it is near here, it's mostly Indian type foods being sold there, so I count it as a South Asian market.) This shop isn't large, but I find most items I need here. They sell mostly Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and possibly Vietnamese foods. I know I've heard that they have quality issues at times, but I've never had a problem. I guess just check thoroughly for expiration dates and freshness. Most of the products I buy here are: *fresh veggies (bok choy, kabocha, daikon, bean sprouts) *dried foods (seaweed, mushrooms, noodles, katsuobushi) *packaged instant foods (Japanese curry roux, soup base, instant noodles) *spices/seasonings/etc. (soy sauce and ponzu in bulk containers, hondashi, miso, ajinomoto) *frozen items (natto, kamaboko, kanikama, agedofu, nikuman) *pickles (kimchi, umeboshi, other Japanese pickles...) *snacks/treats (can't go wrong with any of them!) I'm also a fan of their house-made tofu! (I think it's house-made, it's packaged in saran wrap instead of factory packaging.) It's cheap and I love eating it fried. It sometimes has a distinct smell to it, but it goes away when you slice it thin and fry it up. I think it may not have much preservatives in it though, so eat it within a few days of purchase, so it doesn't spoil! I'm really glad this store is still in business because I don't want to drive all the way to the West Bank for my food! (Plus, I love watching the koi fish in the little pond out front for a few minutes when I stop by the store!)

Golden City is where I go for Rice, specialty Ramon noodles, spices, produce or herbal green tea. They have many hard to find brands of Asian fair including the biggest selection of rice you will find anywhere in the city. They also have hard to find items from everywhere around the world. Including Indonesian spices for Satays and Curry. Popular snacks from Singapore and Japan and crackers from Thailand. What I love most about Golden City is every time I go here I find some new and exciting product from around the world! FYI this store is also never overly crowded and they always have two very fast checkout clerks!
